Lead singer Haley Williams signed her first music deal aged 14, shortly after moving to Tennessee, and went on to form the pop-punk band Paramore. The band have released five albums with Williams as lead vocalist and keyboard player, beginning in 2005 with All We Know Is Falling. In 2015, they won a Grammy for the song Ain’t It Fun.
Paramore's sixth album, This Is Why, marks their triumphant return. After 2017s, After Laughter, Williams and Farro both released solo albums, but this will be the band's first album post-pandemic. Fans may think it's a return to their punk beginnings. Instead, the honest, political songs are fresh. "We are not usually a band to go backwards, ever," Williams said in an interview. "We like to be careful about getting stuck in the past."
Ultimately, the band hopes the fans are ready for this new era of Paramore. "We came back to it with a whole different perspective and, honestly, just healthier," Williams says. "We just want to be able to really enjoy this and be present and not treat it like it's just what we do, but feel like we're really choosing to do it. Because why not?" This is why, the new album releases February 10th.
